This house, in the Floral Park neighborhood known for its 1920s storybook-style homes, is noted on the city’s historic register as a contributing structure to the character of the area. The owner, who bought it in 2017, has updated the plumbing and HVAC systems.

Santa Ana is the county seat of Orange County, and about a 20-minute drive from John Wayne Airport. Disneyland is about 15 minutes away; downtown Los Angeles is 40 minutes northwest, along the I-5 freeway.

The front door opens into a living room with coved ceilings and an original stucco fireplace with brick trim. Built-in shelving, original to the house, is set into one wall. A doorway to the left of the entry leads to the dining room, painted a deep shade of blue, with an arched picture window looking out on the street.

A hallway extends from the right side of the living room to two guest rooms and a bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a built-in window seat and access to the backyard; the bathroom has original built-in cabinets and updated Spanish-style tiling.

A swinging door in the dining room leads to the kitchen, which was updated by a previous owner but still has much of its original millwork, like the rest of the house. It also has quartz countertops and a farmhouse-style sink.

Just outside the kitchen, off the hallway that leads to the downstairs bedrooms, are stairs to the second level. At the top of the stairs, a bedroom with pitched ceilings and an arched window could be used as a home office or as a child’s room. A Spanish-style house built in 1975, with three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, on a 1.1-acre lot

Solvang, a city in the Santa Ynez Valley, was founded in the early 20th century by Danish immigrants, so many buildings resemble those of 19th-century Copenhagen. There is even a replica of the “Little Mermaid” sculpture.

This property is about five minutes from the city center. A number of wine-tasting rooms are within a mile or two, and the local high school is within walking distance. Santa Barbara is about 40 minutes away by car; Los Angeles is just over two hours away.

Indoors: The owner, who bought the house in 2014, did a renovation inspired by the architecture of Cliff May and issues of Sunset Magazinefrom the 1970s.

A rock trail leads through the front yard, landscaped with oak trees, to an orange front door flanked by windows. It opens to a foyer that has a poured-concrete floor, like the rest of the house. To the right is a living room with a fireplace framed in stone.

Beyond is a family room with wood-beamed ceilings and a sliding-glass door that opens to a patio and pool area. The family room is open to the kitchen, which has ceramic-tile countertops and slate-blue cabinetry. Off the kitchen is a dining room with more sliding-glass doors.

The bedrooms are connected by a hallway running along the left side of the house. The first two, each large enough to hold a queen-size bed, share an updated bathroom with a combination tub and shower. Both bedrooms have closets and windows facing the side of the property.

The primary suite is at the back of the house, with access to the pool area. The bedroom is partially open to the bathroom, which has two vanities and a window facing the patio.

Outdoor space: Behind the house is a concrete patio with a slatted pergola and a swimming pool with an attached hot tub. Danville is in the San Ramon Valley of Northern California, about 40 minutes from San Francisco and Silicon Valley. The area is home to several golf courses; this townhouse overlooks the 15th and 16th holes of the course at Crow Canyon Country Club, and is a 10-minute drive from four other courses. The center of Danville, with a hospital, a library and the local high school, is about a 10-minute drive; grocery stores and other essential shops are about five minutes away.

Size: 1,618 square feet

Indoors: This corner unit was bought in 2012 and renovated by the current owners. The front door, dark wood and inset with glass, opens to an airy foyer that leads to the living and dining areas. Set into one wall is a tiled fireplace, and sliding-glass doors lead to a small enclosed courtyard on one side of the room and a golf course-facing deck on the other. The dining area is in a windowed nook off the living room.

A doorway on the far side of the living room leads to the kitchen, which can also be reached directly from the foyer. The appliances are stainless steel, set under granite countertops, and the floors are hardwood. Sliding-glass doors in the breakfast area open to the deck.

To the right of the foyer is a hall connecting the bedrooms and bathrooms. Across the hall from the first bedroom, currently being used as a home office, is a bathroom shared with the second bedroom, at the end of the hall.

In between is the primary bedroom, which has a golf-course view. The en suite bathroom has a separate shower and soaking tub, and a double vanity topped with quartz. Also off the hallway is a laundry room with access to the garage.

Outdoor space: The kitchen and living room have access to the main patio area, where a wooden deck offers enough space for a dining table and chairs under a shaded overhang. A smaller deck extends from the living room, with stairs leading down to the patio. A garden area and a low fence separate the patio from the golf course. The attached garage holds two cars. Community facilities include a heated swimming pool, a clubhouse that can be rented for events and 13 tennis courts.
